Constructing Hope Is Named a DEWALT Grow the Trades Grant Recipient
Constructing Hope is honored to be recognized as a DEWALT Grow the Trades Grant recipient for its efforts to increase completion rates, lower student to instructor ratios, increase direct placement into apprenticeships, and provide graduates with a deeper understanding of the skilled construction trades.
With an estimated 500,000 open construction jobs unfilled, DEWALT’s Grow the Trades Grants aim to help close the skilled labor gap by supporting nonprofit organizations that are skilling, reskilling and upskilling tradespeople. Each year, the program awards funding and tool donations as part of a larger $30 million commitment over five years to close the skilled trades gap.
Constructing Hope was selected as one of 166 organizations that are providing greater accessibility and resources for trades training.
“DEWALT’s Grow the Trades Grant is instrumental in enabling us to provide life-changing support and career training to the community members who need it most. This grant will also empower us to enhance and expand our services, ensuring our students receive ever-improving training for their future careers,” said Noah Koné, Deputy Director at Constructing Hope.
This donation will be used to provide pre-apprenticeship training for 100 community members, hire additional instructors, and build an innovative new curriculum with a whole-house model that follows each step of the City of Portland building code from site preparation to finishing.
“DEWALT is immensely proud to support Constructing Hope as they work to skill and reskill the tradespeople of tomorrow moving us closer to our shared goal of closing the trade skills gap,” said Frank Mannarino, President and General Manager of DEWALT. “Funding educational programs and non-profits like [your organization name] connects more people to training, resources and opportunities that will lead to successful careers in the trades.”
