In Memoriam – Antonio Sage Rodriguez
February 26, 1992 – November 12, 2020
Family Member of the Constructing Hope Fall 2020 Pre-Apprenticeship Training Class
Antonio Sage Rodriguez was a committed and active participant in our current pre-apprenticeship training class. He was determined and driven to make a positive change in his life for himself and his family. Antonio had already decided that he wanted to be an Electrician and planned to graduate the Constructing Hope Pre-Apprenticeship Program, become an apprentice, journey-out, and then take his skills back to the reservation to help change the lives of others in his community
Antonio connected with all of his peers, as well as the instructors, and he had an infectious laugh that caught everyone’s attention and made others smile.During the first week of class, Constructing Hope helped him get a pair of glasses, which he was really excited about. He jokingly referenced the “A Whole New World” song from the movie Aladdin, as he looked around the room for the first time while wearing his new glasses.
Antonio was a loving father to his four year old daughter, Tigerlily. She not only inherited his amazing spirit and beautiful smile, but his zest for life.
Antonio’s dreams were cut short when he was struck by a motor vehicle in Southeast Portland on November 12, 2020. We are extremely saddened by this loss of one of our own, but we know his legacy will live on through his daughter, family, friends, peers and future Constructing Hope Pre-Apprenticeship Trainees.
